Eagles reportedly increase offer in attempt to re-sign Sam Bradford

All the primary figures within the Eagles organization have weighed in on their desire to keep Sam Bradford in Philadelphia going forward. Both Howie Roseman and head coach Doug Pederson sang the praises of the quarterback in their media appearances at the NFL Combine and have seemingly put the decision on Bradford for whether he wants to remain an Eagle or sign elsewhere as a free agent. According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, the Eagles have made an offer to Bradford's camp that they feel is along the lines of what he is looking for.

Here are further details within Garafolo's story on the developments.

The Eagles upped their offer to Sam Bradford during meetings with Bradford's agent at the NFL Scouting Combine last week as a way of making a strong push to close out a multi-year deal for the quarterback before the start of free agency, sources told FOX Sports.

The terms of the offer aren't available, but sources indicated the Eagles' believe it's a very strong offer for Bradford — one that's at the top of his expected range on the open market and one that should help get him under contract before that market opens on March 9.

Should these details be true, the decision will ultimately fall on Bradford and his camp as to whether or not he wants to remain in Philadelphia as the team's franchise quarterback. As Garafolo details elsewhere in his story, the Eagles have already done their due diligence as far as contingency plans.

The Eagles have a few backup plans if they can't get Bradford under contract. One of them is Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel, whom Pederson coached in Kansas City. During his press conference at the Combine, Pederson pumped up Daniel as both a backup and a potential starter if given the chance. Even if the Eagles re-sign Bradford, Daniel could be an option as a free agent to serve as a backup to Bradford.

The reported market for Bradford's services around the league has seemed lukewarm in the weeks leading up to free agency. That said, any time a quarterback hits the open market, it is likely that multiple teams will have some level of interest. The Eagles have been up front in their desire to bring back Bradford in a situation that works for both parties since the current regime took over control earlier in the offseason. Bradford and his camp have been generally mum since the end of the season and have opted the route of silence when it comes to how they feel about a continued partnership going forward.

Any further developments regarding these negotiations will be updated throughout the process.
