Jason Peters may be at the twilight of his career, but it appears he will play at least one more season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the team will retain Peters at his current price-tag:
There was some speculation otherwise, but LT Jason Peters, set to make $9.95M base salary, will be back with #Eagles in ’17. Not a surprise.

This would seem to suggest that not only will Peters be back, but he'll be back at his $9.95 million base salary, which carries an $11.2 million cap hit, per Spotrac. NJ Advance Media's Eliot Shorr-Parks says that's exactly what will happen. The Eagles could have attempted to restructure Peters' deal, or outright released him, which would have only left them with $2 million in dead cap.
Given the holes that the team has at cornerback and wide receiver, among other positions, there was some thought that moving on from Peters' salary and reallocating the nine plus million that would have been saved may have made sense. Lane Johnson, the team's current right tackle, is already paid like an elite left tackle, so he could have shifted to the blind side. The team then could have either Halapoulivaati Vaitai or a free-agent signing play right tackle.
Peters, who is 35, has played for the Eagles since 2009 and made his ninth Pro-Bowl in 2016.
