According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Eagles have signed former Texans guard Brandon Brooks to a five-year/$40 million deal. With bolstering their offensive line seen as one of their primary goals for the 2016 offseason, Howie Roseman and company brought in arguably the best remaining option on the market.

Brooks will turn 27 in August. The Miami of Ohio product spent his first four NFL seasons with the Texans and has started 44 of a possible 50 games he has been active in. He was a third round pick in the 2012 Draft.
As some have noted, Brooks is a bit of a departure from the smaller, more agile linemen that have made up the interior of Chip Kelly and Andy Reid's lines in recent years for the Eagles. Brooks is a 6'5", 343 pound mauler that will serve as a significant upgrade over the options that were used in 2015. Especially with a smaller starting center in Jason Kelce, Brooks' size should help against some of the more disruptive interior defensive linemen the Eagles will face going forward.
