The Eagles selected defensive players in each of the first three rounds of the Draft. The fourth round is the only round where the Eagles have multiple picks, and they used the first one at 118 to give Carson Wentz a new target.
The Eagles selected wide receiver Mack Hollins out of UNC. Hollins is 6'4", 221 pounds.
Here is a scouting report on Mack Hollins.
Size and speed. That's what Hollins brings to the Eagles. Hollins is a receiver that tracks the ball well, can make plays on passes over his shoulder or adjust to underthrown passes and uses his speed to outrun defenders. This is the type of receiver who could spread the field for sure.
If the Eagles were looking to cut down on drops, Hollins may have been one of the best to help that cause. Hollins had six drops in 2015 but improved greatly in 2016 with just one drop on 17 targets.
He's strong on his routes, though he doesn't show a great variety of routes run, and if he can beat his man in coverage, he's off to the races. He may need to toughen up — he's not rated as a great player after the catch — but has the skill set as a receiver to be successful.
As one AFC Scout said in Hollins' NFL.com Player Profile, "What's strange is this kid is tall and fast so I don't know why he would have been so under recruited. I don't know if he will ever be more than a deep threat and cover guy, but those kinds of players make teams."
Add in that Hollins was a special teams player in all senses and a captain and he instantly has a chance to be on the Eagles 53-man roster from the start.
This isn't the flashiest receiver in the bunch, but with the Eagles not looking to immediately add to the receiver position early, they got a quality player and potential sleeping in the Draft early on Day 3.
