The 5-4 Eagles are coming off a good home win against Atlanta, but the difficult schedule continues as they head west to face the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks roared off to a 4-1 start, then played to a tie against Arizona and lost to New Orleans to fall to 4-2-1 on the season. But since then, back-to-back wins over Buffalo and New England have pushed Seattle near the top of the NFC standings. With home field, this is going to be one of the Eagles toughest challenges remaining on the season.
Here are six players to watch in Sunday's Eagles-Seahawks game.
Carson Wentz – The rookie really has yet to face a defense quite like this. The way Seattle's defense attacks and can play in coverage among the best in the NFL will put Wentz to the test. Composure and poise will need to be on full display for him to have any success on Sunday.
Jimmy Graham – Graham's best game came against Buffalo two weeks ago, with eight catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns. If the Seahawks focus is on the middle of the field and Graham can consistently get himself open in the Eagles secondary, he could be a popular target.
Jordan Matthews – The Seattle secondary is well known throughout the league and Matthews already comes into Sunday's game a little dinged up, but is expected to play. In every game this season, Matthews has dropped a pass at a crucial time that could have led to more points. He'll need to be on his game against a defense that pounces on such mistakes.
Kam Chancellor – The Seattle safety made his return to the lineup last week against New England and instantly had an impact, picking up eight tackles and a forced fumble. Look for him to prey on a weak receiver group for the Eagles.
Brandon Graham – Seattle has had games where points are hard to come by and the Eagles have been solid at holding teams off the board at times. A lot of that can be attributed to a good pass rush, and getting Russell Wilson flustered in any way will help. Graham has been the Eagles biggest pest on the defensive line, so look for him to continue that.
Cliff Avril – For Carson Wentz to have any success, he also needs to have protection from the offensive line. One player who will be looking to disrupt that is Cliff Avril, who has nine sacks on the season. Don't be surprised if he isn't able to pad those numbers on Sunday.
