On the Monday following the Eagles bye week, Howie Roseman made one of his signature moves by re-signing one of the team’s best players to a contract mid-season.
The new deal will keep guard Brandon Brooks with the Eagles through the 2024 season.

Brooks has been the Eagles best player this season and is line for a slew of awards.
After tearing his Achillies’ tendon in the Divisonal Round, Brooks rebounded to start week one of the season and be Pro Football Focus’ best offensive lineman in 2019.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports the deal is for $54.2 million with $30 million guaranteed.

The deal would make him the highest paid guard in the league.
Obviously, making the top player at his position the highest paid at the position makes a lot of sense, but doing it now is a great move for the cap.
It gets the deal done before Brooks is likely to be named a Pro Bowler, All-Pro and Comeback Player of the Year this season and comes with Brooks having one more year on his previous deal.
That means that guards signed to an extension this offseason and next offseason will look to beat Brooks’ deal and the Eagles cap hit for Brooks will no longer be the highest for a guard by the time the contract actually takes affect against the salary cap in 2021.
Brooks has an $11 million cap hit in 2020 and appears poised to be with the team for quite some time to anchor the right side of the line next to Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce (both signed through 2021).
