The Eagles were down yet another corner at training camp with Cre’von LeBlanc now in a boot and out for a few weeks.
In response to the injury, the team claimed undrafted free agent corner Alex Brown off of waivers and brought in long-time Dallas Cowboy Orlando Scandrick for a workout.
The team got some good news in that LeBlanc is thought to have only suffered a foot sprain and should be ready to start the season.
The Eagles were still impressed with Scandrick’s workout, however and signed him to a one-year deal.

Over 10 seasons and 140 games, Scandrick has accumulated 443 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 76 defensed passes, nine interceptions, eight forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
The move is a bit of a no-brainer. The deal is low-risk, high-reward because Scandrick is not going to be making a huge chunk of change. If he shows some of the skill he once had, the Eagles are in great position with him serving as depth behind Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, Avonte Maddox and Cre’Von LeBlanc. That is not including Josh Hawkins who, by all accounts, has really stepped up in camp this year and also has previous playing experience.
The Eagles will likely put one of Hawkins or Scandrick on the roster should Jalen Mills start the season on the PUP list.
It will be interesting how the team handles the return of Mills and Darby to action and whether or not the team deals a corner in a trade at some point mid-season in an attempt to get a pick back rather than cutting a player they like outright, especially if Scandrick plays a vital role early in the season.
The Eagles will hope that Scandrick does better than the previous few long-time Cowboys the team signed as neither DeMarco Murray nor Miles Austin really did anything to help the team during their time in an Eagles uniform.
