Just a few weeks ago, the Eagles signed former Army tackle Brett Toth to a deal and it seemed he would be a good candidate to make the practice squad if there is room.

On Wednesday, Logan Brown Sports announced via Twitter that tackle Riley Mayfield will be signing with the Eagles ahead of the final preseason game.

The move is almost certainly related to Jordan Mailata missing the last two practices.

Mayfield will likely see some timeif Mailata sits since Mailata had been playing nearly 100% of the offensive snaps in the preseason.

Mayfield was an undrafted free agent who spent a short amount of time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this offseason.

With such a short time remaining before roster cuts have to take place, Mayfield is likely hoping to put out some good tape to entice someone to sign him to their practice squad and/or bring him back to training camp next offseason so that he can earn a roster spot from there.
