Eagles Trade: Birds Send Kenny Pickett To Browns For Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Draft Pick

The QB factory is stocking up again.
Less than a year after the Eagles acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade, they are trading him away.
On the first day of free agency negotiations, the Eagles agreed to send Pickett to the Cleveland Browns.
The Eagles get back young QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) and a fifth-round pick.
Pickett appeared in five regular season games for his hometown team, making one start and an emergency replacement in the first quarter of a game. He played through broken ribs as the Eagles primary backup for Hurts last season.
He even got to take snaps in the Super Bowl for his hometown team as they secured a championship.
DTR, meanwhile, is under contract for the next two seasons and has a cap hit under half of what Pickett’s would have been this season alone.
In two seasons with the Browns, he’s appeared in 15 games and has a 52.6% completion rate but an ugly 1 to 10 touchdown to interception ratio. The Eagles hope that he can develop more and will look far better with a much better offense around him. He figures to compete with Tanner McKee to be the backup this season.
DTR does have a skillset and the mobility that matches more of Hurts’ playstyle than McKee, who is more of a pocket passer.
So, the trade from last year now works out to:
EAGLES TRADE: 2024 pick 98, 2 2025 seventh-rounders
EAGLES RECEIVE: One year of Kenny Pickett (2024), DTR (two years under contract – 2025 & 2026), 2024 Pick 120, 2025 fifth-rounder
