Final: Marlins 5, Phillies 0
MIAMI—Jerad Eickhoff pitched seven innings of one-run ball, but the offense behind him couldn't bring home any runs as the Miami Marlins shut out the Phillies, 5–0.
Giancarlo Stanton drove home a run in the sixth with a single and another in the eighth with a ground-rule double. His production, though supported by three more runs in the eighth, was all Miami pitchers Tom Koehler, Mike Dunn, David Phelps and Nick Wittgren needed to take the second game of three at Marlins Park, setting up the Phils and the Fish for tomorrow's early rubber match at 12:10 p.m.

Peter Bourjos exited the game after the first inning with a shoulder injury, which he suffered by jumping into the outfield wall in right-center to rob Ichiro Suzuki of an extra-base hit (which would have been No. 2,997 in the Japanese-American star's career). Jimmy Paredes replaced Bourjos in right field.
Jerad Eickhoff, once again facing Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler, pitched well through five innings, scattering two hits and one walk. In the sixth, though, Martín Prado doubled to left and Giancarlo Stanton pulled a single through the right side of the infield, beating the shift and scoring Prado to open the scoring and stop Miami's scoreless streak at a whopping 24 innings.
Koehler, too, cruised through his start. He went six scoreless, allowing just three hits and striking out five. Koehler threw just 73 pitches, but was pulled after the sixth inning, giving way to lefty Mike Dunn. Dunn, whose name has been bandied about in Jeremy Hellickson trade rumors as part of a possible return, pitched a scoreless seventh inning. David Phelps struck out two in a perfect eighth.
Taylor Featherston, making his first Phillies appearance after being called up from Lehigh Valley in place of Andrés Blanco, pinch-hit for Eickhoff in the eighth; the Phillies' starter allowed one run in seven innings while striking out eight.
Eickhoff was replaced by Andrew Bailey for the eighth.
Bailey allowed a leadoff single to Ichiro, who now sits three hits away from the milestone of 3,000. Ichiro stole second and Bailey walked Prado; Christian Yelich struck out but Stanton drove a ball over the wall on one hop in right-center for a run-scoring ground-rule double. Severino Gonzalez was brought on to replace Bailey, immediately issuing an intentional free pass to Chris Johnson to load the bases. Adeiny Hechavarria singled to right, driving in two more runs and really breaking the game open. Miguel Rojas added an RBI double to push Miami's lead to 5–0.
Nick Wittgren pitched a scoreless ninth to end the game and seal the win.
The Phillies have a chance to take the series tomorrow at 12:10 p.m. Zach Eflin, coming off a complete-game shutout in his last start, will face left-hander Adam Conley.
