The Philadelphia 76ers host the Phoenix Suns this evening and the team was in Camden, NJ at their practice facility this morning for a shootaround. After the session, updates were provided on Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor.
If you watched the Sixers game against Minnesota on Thursday, you may have noticed that Joel Embiid took a fall in the first quarter of the game. He was favoring his left ankle, but still played out the remainder of his minute allotment. It turns out that the 7-foot-2 big man suffered a mild left ankle sprain and is questionable for tonight's matchup against the Suns. Sixers medical staff will reevaluate Embiid when he arrives at the Wells Fargo Center tonight. According to Sixers.com, Embiid was able to walk through this morning's shootaround and took some shots afterwards as well.
Meanwhile, Jahlil Okafor will be available on the usual 24-minute restriction tonight. He's had an up and down season thus far, showing signs of offensive upside while also unfortunately displaying glaring weakness on the defensive end of the ball. Overall, he's a -59 in nine games this season.
There was not anything mentioned about the potential of Robert Covington being removed from the starting lineup. He's shooting just over 19 percent during the last five games and 22.2 percent overall this season from beyond the arc. Earlier this week, we wrote about how Covington could learn a few things from Nik Stauskas' approach this season.
