The Phillies have activated catcher Erik Kratz from the disabled list to take the place of injured Ben Revere on the Phillies active roster. Revere broke his ankle by fouling off a pitch during yesterday's 5-4 loss to Milwaukee. He was replaced in the second game by John Mayberry.
No, Kratz will not play center field. Kratz was due to return anyway, and with the All-Star break beginning tomorrow, the Phillies can take their time deciding what to do next. Besides, Carlos Ruiz and Humberto Quintero caught 12 and 13 innings, respectively and Kratz could help them not be so burdened again.
