ESPN fires former Phillies star Curt Schilling

Schilling was suspended by ESPN late last summer after sharing a meme that compared Muslims with Nazis. The meme ultimately saw Schilling lose his spot as an analyst on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. 

 

It should be noted, Schilling was not let go because the executives at ESPN, or even the general public, disagreed with which political candidates he supported or even his political views. Schilling was let go for consistently displaying hateful opinions that may be viewed as political by some, but are instead a case of human rights discrimination. 

 

Schilling, 49, played for the Phillies from 1992 until July of 2000, when the team traded him to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Schilling won a World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001, while winning Co-MVP of the series with Hall of Famer Randy Johnson. Schilling would win two more World Series titles with the Boston Red Sox.
