Fabbri hat trick sparks Blues win

 Robby Fabbri snapped out of scoring slump in a big way. Fabri scored once in the first and twice in the third for his first career hat trick to spark St. Louis to a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night. 

Wayne Simmonds opened the scoring just 3:25 into the game. Simmonds tapped in a pass from Travis Konecny for his 17th goal of the season. Brayden Schenn picked up the other assist. Schenn made a pass to the far post to Konency who passed it back across the crease to Simmonds for the 1-0 lead.

The Blues began to take over the period and it led to the games first power play. Claude Giroux was whistled for holding at 14:43. It didn't take long for the Blues to take advantage.

Kevin Shattenkirk fired home a rocket at 15:01 to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was his eigth of the season. Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko picked up the assists. 

St. Louis got their second power play just two minutes later. Just like their first chance, the Blues would capitalize. Robby Fabbri potted his ninth of the season with just 11 seconds left in the period to put St. Louis up 2-1. Colton Parayko had the assist.

The Blues outshot the Flyers 11-5 for the period and took a 2-1 lead to the locker room after 20 minutes of play.

The Flyers would get the game tied early in the second. Jay Bouwmeester was called for delay of game at 2:27. The Flyers did not get much going with the extra man but did just afterwards.

Nick Cousins tipped home an Ivan Provorov shot at 4:32 to tie the game at 2-2. the goal came just five seconds after the power play ended. Travis Konecny picked up the other assist on the fourth goal of the season for Cousins.

The teams exchanged power play chances the rest of the period but neither team could get ahead and the second period ended with the game tied at 2-2. 

St. Louis outshot Philadelphia 9-4 for the period and held a 20-9 advantage through two periods. 

Brayden Schenn put the Flyers ahead 3-2 at 4:13 of the third period. Schenn netted his 10th of the season on the power play just moments after he had a goal called off because of an early whistle.  Shayne Gostisbehere and Simmonds had the assists.  

The Blues responded just over a minute later. David Perron potted his 10th of the season at 5;53 of the period. Parayko picked up his second assist of the game.

20 seconds later the Blues were back in front. Scottie Upshall tipped home a shot from the point by Joel Edmundson at 6:13 for his fourth of the season to put St. Louis up 4-3.  Alex Pietrangelo had the other assist.

Robby Fabbri picked up his second of the night with just under five minutes left in the third. Fabbri stepped off the boards and walked right into the slot firing a shot past Steve Mason to put the Blues up 5-3.

Fabbri finished off the hat trick with an empty netter at 17:04 to make the final score 6-3 St. Louis.
