Falcons’ Hester, Reed out for season opener vs. Eagles

According to Eagles Insider, Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver and kick returner Devin Hester, as well as linebacker Brooks Reed, will be out for the season opener Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hester, 32, was expected to be sidelined at least one to two weeks because of turf toe.

Atlanta may not miss the four-time Pro Bowler in the passing game, as he is only the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart, however his absence will most definitely be noticed on special teams.

Hester holds the National Football League record for return touchdowns, 20.

Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that Hester will be replaced in sub packages by Justin Hardy.

Reed, 28, underwent groin surgery on September 3 that has a timetable of six weeks recovery.
