The Philadelphia Flyers have added former Colorado Avalanche scout Rick Pracey to their staff. Pracey will assume the role amateur scout. Pracey had been the director of scouting for the Avalanche.

This may seem like a minor move by the organization but the reality is, it's a very good one. Pracey is responsible for drafting some very good young talent in Colorado.  Chris Pryor will remain as director of scouting with Dave Brown the head of pro scouting.

Some of the players drafted under Pracey's watch include current captain Gabriel Landeskog, Matt Duchene, Tyson Barrie, Ryan O'Reilly and Nathan McKinnon.

He was let go by Colorado back in October. The move came as a surprise to some given the success he had in drafting the aforementioned players. There were rumors about a rift with current head coach Patrick Roy and also some stories about a lack of European scouting.

Whatever the reason, the Flyers is organization is happy to have him.
