As is tradition on the final weekend of the regular season, the Flyers presented their annual team awards prior to Saturday's game against Columbus.
Wayne Simmonds claimed the Bobby Clarke Trophy for team MVP for the first time. Simmonds has 30 goals and 22 assists for 52 points this season.
Simmonds also won the Toyota Cup for the most points earned from 3 Star selections, a total of 46 points. Toyota also makes a $5,000 donation to Simmonds' charity, Wayne's Road Hockey Warriors.
The Barry Ashbee Trophy for most outstanding defenseman went to rookie Ivan Provorov. Provorov had 28 points, including six goals, this season while averaging 21:56 of ice time. This is the second straight season a rookie has been named the most outstanding defenseman, with Shayne Gostisbehere getting the award last season.
The Pelle Lindbergh Memorial Trophy, presented to the most improved player, went to Radko Gudas. Gudas will finish the season with six goals and 17 assists, as he is out for the weekend with an upper-body injury. The 23 points is a nine-point improvement from last season. The award is voted on by Gudas' teammates.
The Yanick Dupre Class Guy Memorial Award, presented to the Flyers player who demonstrates the best character, dignity and respect for the sport on and off the ice, went to goalie Steve Mason.
The Gene Hart Memorial Award, presented to the Flyers player who demonstrates the most heart, was given to Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.
