In a dominate performance down in South Philadelphia, John LeClair and the Philadelphia Flyers dismantled the Vancouver Canucks, 6-2. It was quite a game for LeClair, who netted four goals including three in the final frame.
With the Flyers down 1-0 after one period, LeClair would respond. A power-play goal for LeClair, his 15th on the year, assisted by Eric Lindros and Eric Desjardins would tie the score at one. The Canucks would answer back later in the second period, on a Bill Muckalt goal and the Canucks took a 2-1 lead into the third period.
In that third period, the line of LeClair, Lindros and Keith Jones took over.
LeClair tied the score at two less than a minute in, assisted by Lindros and Dan McGillis. His third of the night to give the Flyers the lead, came at 14:53, from Lindros and Jones.
Just 1:07 later, Jones would tally to make it 4-2, assisted by Lindros and Desjardins again. LeClair would net his fourth at 18:56, from Lindros and Chris Therien, stretching the lead to 5-2. Finally, the deluge ended when Flyer Chris Gratton would score his first of the season at 19:26 and put the finishing touches on a 6-2 win.
The unfortunate recipient of the Flyers dominance was former Flyer goaltender Garth Snow, peppered with 35 shots in the game.
LeClair's four goals and Eric Lindros' five assists proved once again how dominate this pair could be against anyone in the NHL.
