With Andrew MacDonald sidelined for 4-6 weeks, the Flyers were left with six healthy defensemen on the roster for the past couple of games. So when Shayne Gostisbehere left Saturday's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs with an upper-body injury, a roster move seemed imminent.
The Flyers have recalled defenseman Sam Morin from the Phantoms, according to GM Ron Hextall.
As of Sunday afternoon, there was no update on Gostisbehere's condition. An update is expected on Monday ahead of the Flyers home game against the Arizona Coyotes.
Morin was part of the Flyers roster for the first four games of the season, but a healthy scratch in each. Since returning to the Phantoms, Morin has played in eight games with one goal and three assists for four points as well as 17 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in that time.
During the preseason, Morin played in five games with one goal, one assist and seven penalty minutes.
While there is no update on Gostisbehere, it was learned that Leo Komarov will not be facing supplemental discipline for his hit on the Flyers defenseman while the Flyers were on a power play in the second period of Saturday's game. There was no penalty called on the play either.
The Flyers return to action on Monday night against the Coyotes at 7 p.m.
