Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas already missed Saturday's game while waiting for his hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, set for Sunday by phone.
The verdict is in and it will keep Gudas off the ice much longer.
Gudas was given a 10-game suspension for his slashing major to the back of the head of Mathieu Perreault in Thursday's game against the Jets. By missing Saturday's game, Gudas has already served one of the games in the suspension.
Gudas is a repeat offender, so the length of this suspension is a direct result of the number of previous suspensions Gudas has been given.
The Flyers will also have to make some decisions with their lineup with Gudas out. On Saturday, Mark Alt filled in with the Flyers still waiting for Andrew MacDonald to return from injury, but the Flyers could also opt for Sam Morin to join the Flyers to add more size, something similar to Gudas in terms of physicality. Morin was set to be called up a few weeks earlier before missing nearly two weeks with an injury of his own.
Gudas will be eligible to return to the Flyers for their game on Dec. 12 at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Flyers are back in action on Tuesday night when they host the Vancouver Canucks at 7 p.m.
