For 16 years, Chris Pryor has been an integral part of the Flyers scouting department, going from amateur scout to the team's director of scouting, a position he has held for the last three years.
On Wednesday, GM Ron Hextall announced a promotion for Pryor, who will now be elevated to assistant GM and Director of Player Personnel.
Pryor joined the Flyers in 1999 as an amateur scout after working in the New York Islanders organization for seven years as a minor league coach, a scout and director of player development. He held his position with the Flyers as a scout until 2006, when he was named the director of hockey operations. Prior to the 2013-14 season, he was elevated to director of scouting.
Pryor also has six seasons in the NHL on his resume, playing for the Minnesota North Stars and New York Islanders from 1984 to 1990.
In recent years, the Flyers have done a lot of their building through the draft and with prospect development. Pryor is a large presence with Hextall at the draft and at the team's development camp for prospects.
The Flyers 2016-17 season begins in just over a month with the start of training camp and the preseason. The regular season is just over two months away, with the Flyers first game coming on Oct. 14 in Los Angeles.
