The Flyers made their first of many picks on Day 2, taking right winger Pascal Laberge with the 36th overall pick.
Laberge was a late first-round projection that slipped into the second round.
Here's a scouting report of the newest Flyer.
Laberge really put things together in the second half of last season, finishing the year with 23 goals and 45 assists for 58 points in 56 games.
Another strong two-way forward who can play both center and wing, Laberge has all the tools of a potential goal scorer at the NHL level. He has good hands, strong passing ability, great puck skills, good size at 6'1" and 175 pounds and has a strong shot.
He's not the fastest player and needs to work on his consistency as well as his responsibilities defensively and could get a little stronger to be a more physical presence, but is very much a finesse player with raw offensive talents.
He was a standout in the CHL Top Prospects game, which helped him rise through the ranks as the draft approached.
"High end shot with good vision," writes ISS Director of Scouting Dennis MacInnis in the 2016 NHL Draft Guide. "Strong on the power play where he played on both the half wall and the point."
"Hunts for turnovers and causes havoc whenever he is on the ice," writes Curtis Joe of EliteProspects.com. "Uses his size well to shield the puck, exert physical force, and win board battles. All-in-all, an efficient, yet exciting, two-way forward with potential to develop into a playmaking goal scorer."
