Alex Lyon was supposed to get the start for the Flyers in Tuesday night's preseason game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but was scratched late with a lower-body injury and did not play. GM Ron Hextall provided an update on Lyon on Thursday, and it's not good news for the young netminder.

Lyon will be out for four weeks with the injury, Hextall announced. Lyon played 30 minutes in the team's preseason opener on Sunday, allowing one goals on 10 shots. He signed a two-year contract extension over the summer.

Lyon played in 11 games last season at the NHL level, posting a 4-2-1 record and 2.75 GAA. With the Phantoms, Lyon had a 16-8-2 regular-season record with a 2.77 GAA. In the playoffs, he was 6-5 with a 1.98 GAA and .944 save percentage, helping get the Phantoms to the Eastern Conference Final.

With Lyon out for the next four weeks, the earliest he would be able to return would be at least two weeks into the regular season for both the Flyers and Phantoms. The Flyers currently have four goalies on the training camp roster that will be split between the Flyers and Phantoms — Brian Elliott, Michal Neuvirth, Anthony Stolarz and Carter Hart.

The Flyers are also expected to announce roster cuts on Thursday afternoon. They next play on Friday night at PPL Center in Allentown against the New York Islanders at 7 p.m.
