When the Flyers fell behind 2-0 with 6:08 to play in the third period, the focus shifted to the change being made in net. Brian Elliott skated off with trainers, another injury plaguing Flyers goaltending.

Elliott will be out for approximately two weeks with a lower-body injury, GM Ron Hextall announced on Friday. Alex Lyon was recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to take his place. Cal Pickard will serve as the starter.

Elliott was starting to hit a hot streak. After missing the final game of a four-game road trip on Nov. 5, Elliott returned that Thursday, Nov. 8, entering the game in relief. He stopped 16 shots to hold the Arizona Coyotes off the board in a 5-4 comeback win for the Flyers in overtime. Elliott then stopped all 33 shots faced in a 4-0 win over Chicago last Saturday.

Despite a loss on Tuesday, Elliott stopped 28 of 30 shots that night and had stopped 23 of 24 shots before exiting after New Jersey's second goal.

Elliott has a 6-7-0 record with a 2.59 GAA and .911 save percentage in 14 games.

The injury forces the Flyers to turn back to Pickard, who had two solid starts on the road trip before getting pulled early in a start on Nov. 8. Chances are Lyon will also see some game action while up, pending the status of Michal Neuvirth, who remains out with an injury.

The Flyers close out a five-game homestand on Saturday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 1 p.m.
