A scary moment for a Philadelphia Flyers prospect has interrupted a relatively quiet day in news and notes for the Flyers.
Anthony Stolarz, the goalie prospect that broke through with the Flyers in the preseason, suffered a gruesome injury in his OHL game with the London Knights.
A scrum near the net led to a player for the visiting Saginaw Spirit stepping on Stolarz' leg. As a result, Stolarz was severely cut and lost a significant amount of blood. Stolarz left the game immediately following the incident, which occurred just 3:42 into the game.
Stolarz had been playing excellent prior to the injury. He was 21-4-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .925 save percentage.
Obviously, there is a lot of concern with the injury, but Stolarz tweeted a few hours ago with an update. By the looks of things, he is in good spirits and already prepared for the recovery that lies ahead.
