Let the games begin, at least in the preseason.
The preseason gets underway on Sunday afternoon with a group of players taking the ice in Long Island as the Flyers go against the New York Islanders. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Flyers lineup will be a combination of returning veterans and prospect participating in game action for the first time this preseason. The group is headlined by Travis Konecny, Nolan Patrick, Travis Sanheim and Robert Hagg. Prospects Phil Myers, Mikhail Vorobyev and Morgan Frost are also playing in the game.
Alex Lyon and Anthony Stolarz will split duties in goal in the preseason opener.
There are no line combinations to project in a game setting just yet, but here is the group that will be playing in Long Island on Sunday:
Forwards: Travis Konecny, Nolan Patrick, Taylor Leier, Cole Bardreau, Mikhail Vorobyev, Danick Martel, Oskar Lindblom, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Maksim Sushko, Morgan Frost, German Rubtsov, Carsen Twarynski
Defensemen: Travis Sanheim, Robert Hagg, Christian Folin, T.J. Brennan, Reece Willcox, Philippe Myers
Goalies: Alex Lyon, Anthony Stolarz
The Islanders roster for Sunday's game is as follows:
Forwards: Mathew Barzal, Anthony Beauvillier, Kieffer Bellows, Steve Bernier, Casey Cizikas Cal Clutterbuck, Jordan Eberle, Stephen Gionta, Otto Koivula, Jan Kovar, Matt Martin, Yanick Turcotte
Defensemen: Sebastian Aho, Noah Dobson, Seth Helgeson, Nick Leddy, Ryan Pulock, Luca Sbisa
Goalies: Christopher Gibson, Robin Lehner
This marks the first of four games in four days for the Flyers in the preseason. They will host the Islanders at Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The players not participating in Sunday's game against the Islanders are skating in a morning session at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees.
