Sunday's preseason opener for the Flyers against the New York Islanders featured a prospect-heavy lineup. The game saw some rather uninspired play for the better part of the afternoon.
The opponent remains the same on Monday night, but the Flyers come back to home ice for the first time. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The Flyers will have more veterans in the lineup for the second preseason game. This will mark the preseason debut of forwards Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek and James van Riemsdyk as well as defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov. The Flyers will use Michal Neuvirth and Carter Hart in goal for the game.
These were the line combinations used at the morning skate session in Voorhees this morning:
Left Wing | Center | Right Wing |
28 Claude Giroux | 40 Jordan Weal | 62 Nicolas Aube-Kubel |
25 James van Riemsdyk | 46 Mikhail Vorobyev | 93 Jake Voracek |
21 Scott Laughton | 38 Corban Knight | 22 Dale Weise |
76 Isaac Ratcliffe | 74 Mike Vecchione | 39 Tyrell Goulbourne |

Forwards Travis Konecny, Nolan Patrick and Taylor Leier skated with this group at the morning skate but will not play in the game after playing in Sunday's preseason opener. Defenseman Christian Folin also skated and will not play in Monday's game.
The Islanders had a more skilled and veteran lineup in the preseason opener, but bring a solid group to Philadelphia as well with Josh Bailey, Anders Lee and Brock Nelson all playing in the game. Former Flyers forward Valtteri Filppula also will play.
In goal, Thomas Greiss and Jeremy Smith will split duties.
The Islanders roster for Monday's game is as follows:
Forwards: Josh Bailey, Chris Bourque, Michael Dal Colle, Valtteri Filppula, Tanner Fritz, Ryan Hitchcock, Josh Ho-Sang, Ross Johnston, Tom Kuhnhackl, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Mike Sislo
Defensemen: Scott Mayfield, Adam Pelech, Yannick Rathgeb, Dennis Seidenberg, Devon Toews, Bode Wilde
Goalies: Thomas Greiss, Jeremy Smith
The players not participating in Monday's game against the Islanders will skate in a practice session at noon on Monday. The players participating in Monday's game had a morning skate at 10 a.m.
There is also expected to be an update on defenseman Travis Sanheim on Monday. Sanheim left Sunday's game with an upper-body injury after taking a hit from behind into the boards.
