The Flyers are preparing to make final cuts and release the final roster. They are not quite there yet, as they remain one player short of the final 23-man roster.

The Flyers did announce three cuts on Sunday afternoon, bringing the roster to 24. Defenseman Phil Myers, recalled to play in Saturday's preseason finale, was sent back to the Phantoms. Defenseman Mark Friedman was also loaned to the Phantoms. Goalie Carter Hart will also head to the Phantoms to begin his professional career.

Hart had an 0-1-0 record in the preseason with a 1.87 goals against average and .922 save percentage, making 59 saves on 64 shots in four appearances.

Myers had an assist and played 16:02 in the preseason finale on Saturday.

Friedman played in four preseason games, with one assist and was tied for the team lead at plus-4. He will enter his second pro season with the Phantoms.

The final cut for the Flyers will be a forward. It appears it would be down to one of Taylor Leier, Jori Lehtera or Dale Weise and the player would have to be placed on waivers. No Flyers were on waivers on Sunday, which means the final cut will wait until Monday at the earliest.

With Hart being sent to the Phantoms, Anthony Stolarz will serve as the backup to Brian Elliott to start the season.

The seven defensemen on the roster are also set — Ivan Provorov, Shayne Gostisbehere, Travis Sanheim, Andrew MacDonald, Robert Hagg, Radko Gudas and Christian Folin

It appears that Mikhail Vorobyev has made the team. He did not need to pass through waivers to go to the Phantoms, so if that was the decision, he would have likely been cut with the other three on Sunday.

The Flyers need to make the final decision by Tuesday, so a decision should come tomorrow on who is on waivers.

The Flyers open the season on Thursday night against the Vegas Golden Knights at 10 p.m.
