The inevitable move of Travis Konecny heading to injured reserve after suffering a lower-body injury that will sideline him for four-to-six weeks happened on Friday morning. The Flyers also tabbed his replacement for the moment as well.
Jordan Weal, who has spent the entire season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, has been called up to take Konecny's place on the roster.
Weal has 15 goals and a team-high 47 points in 43 games in the AHL this season.
The Flyers added Weal to their group of lines for Friday's practice, clearly a shakeup from Thursday's game.
Notably, Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek were split up on separate lines. Giroux skated with Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. Voracek was on the right wing with Sean Couturier at center and Weal playing left wing. Nick Cousins centered the third line with Michael Raffl and Matt Read on the wings. Dale Weise was the odd forward out on the top four lines.
The Flyers take on the San Jose Sharks in the final game of a five-game homestand on Saturday afternoon.
