The Flyers took a hit on the injury front on Wednesday morning, as GM Ron Hextall announced two injury updates.
Defenseman Brandon Manning and goalie Michal Neuvirth were placed on injured reserve. Manning has an upper-body injury and will be out 3-4 weeks. Neuvirth has a lower-body injury and will be out 1-2 weeks.
To fill out the roster, the Flyers have recalled defenseman T.J. Brennan and goalie Alex Lyon from the Phantoms.
Brennan, a native of Willingboro, NJ, gets his first call to the NHL since joining the Flyers organization in 2016. Brennan leads all Phantoms defensemen with two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 17 games, and had 60 points in the 2016-17 season.
Brennan has played in 53 career NHL games as a member of the Sabres, Panthers and Maple Leafs. He has five goals and eight assists in those games.
As for Lyon, this is his first call to the NHL. The Flyers signed the goalie as an undrafted free agent out of Yale University in 2016. Lyon is 8-6-1 with a 3.31 GAA and .894 save percentage with the Phantoms this season. He posted a 1-1-1 record with a 2.32 GAA and .924 save percentage with the Flyers in the preseason and had a 27-14-5 record with a 2.74 GAA and .912 save percentage in his first pro season with the Phantoms last season.
Manning had six points in 22 games this season with the Flyers, while ranking third on the team in blocked shots with 30 and averaging 19:05 of ice time. Neuvirth had made just eight appearances this season, posting a 2-5-1 record with a 2.65 GAA and .910 save percentage.
Both players will be available for Wednesday night's game against the Oilers, which starts at 9:30 p.m.
