By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

The CHL Playoffs concluded the first round during the last couple of days. The Flyers had 10 prospects participated in the three leagues within the CHL, and seven have gone on to advance to the next round.

Here is a rundown of the 10 prospects in the CHL Playoffs and how they fared in the first round.

WHL

Carter Hart (Everett) – The Flyers 2016 second-round pick was once again a standout in Everett’s first-round series win over Seattle.

Hart made just 17 saves in the Game 1 win, but was busy in the remaining four games of the series. Hart stopped 28 shots in 5-4 overtime loss in Game 2 before turning in three straight wins, making 33 saves in a 3-1 win in Game 3, 28 saves in a 7-3 win in Game 4 and 36 saves in a 4-0 shutout win in Game 5 to seal the series.

Hart even channeled his inner Ron Hextall in Game 3, getting into a shoving match with a Seattle player and getting a 10-minute misconduct as a result.

Carsen Twarynski (Kelowna) – Kelowna was swept in the first round by Tri-City, but Twarynski was one of Kelowna’s better players. Twarynski scored two goals and had two assists in the four-game series.

Next for Twarynski, who signed an entry-level deal in March, is likely a trip to Allentown on a ATO with the Phantoms. He will likely be a full-time AHL player next season.

OHL

Morgan Frost (Sault Ste. Marie) – The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds have been the team to beat in the WHL all season and they made quick work of Saginaw in a series sweep. The Flyers second first-round pick of the 2017 Draft was right in the middle of it.

Frost scored two goals and added five assists in the series.

Isaac Ratcliffe (Guelph) – Guelph was ousted by Kitchener in six games, but Ratcliffe was one of Guelph’s better performers in the series. Ratcliffe scored five goals and added four assists for nine points in the six-game series.

Ratcliffe is also a candidate to join the Phantoms on an ATO for the remainder of the AHL season.

Maksim Sushko (Owen Sound) – Sushko started the OHL Playoffs on a high note with the game-winning goal in Game 1. He suffered an injury in Game 3 and was not able to play in Game 4.

Matthew Strome (Hamilton) – Hamilton rolled to a 4-1 series win with a lot of help from 2017 fourth-round pick Matthew Strome. Strome scored two goals and had eight assists for 10 points in the five-game series.

Connor Bunnaman (Kitchener) – The Kitchener captain scored two goals and had two assists in the six-game series. Bunnaman and Kitchener advanced by defeating Guelph and fellow prospect Isaac Ratcliffe in the series.

Anthony Salinitri (Sarnia) – Salinitri scored a goal in Game 1 and took eight shots on goal, but suffered an injury during the series and missed the last four games. Sarnia won the series, 4-2, over Windsor.

QMJHL

German Rubtsov (Acadie-Bathurst) – Rubtsov was fairly limited in the series, finishing with just one assist in Acadie-Bathurst’s 4-2 series win over Chicoutimi.

Pascal Laberge (Quebec) – Laberge was able to put up points in the first two games, scoring a goal in Game 2 and picking up two assists in Game 1. Laberge was held without a point for three games before scoring in Quebec’s 5-2 win in Game 6, forcing a decisive Game 7.

In Game 7, Laberge and Quebec struggled. Laberge was a minus-3 with two shots and did not register a point in an 8-3 loss to give Charlottetown the series.
