The Flyers prospects closed out prospect camp on Wednesday with a morning practice and an evening game against the New York Islanders prospects in East Meadow, NY. It's safe to say the Flyers prospect group impressed.
The Flyers prospects came away with a 4-0 victory over the Islanders prospects on Wednesday night.
After skating to a scoreless first period, the Flyers broke the ice with the game's first goal at 17:31 of the second period. Travis Konecny set up 2016 sixth-round pick Anthony Salinitri for the goal.
Midway through the third, the Flyers padded the lead with a goal by Steven Swavely, who scored on a give-and-go with Tyrell Goulbourne. Swavely and Goulbourne both played for the Phantoms last season and are likely to be part of the team in Lehigh Valley again this season.
Goulbourne also added a goal with five minutes left in the third, scoring shorthanded to extend the Flyers lead to three. Moments later, 2016 third-round pick Carsen Twarynski also added a shorthanded goal to cap the scoring.
Goalies Alex Lyon and Carter Hart combined for the shutout.
With prospect camp now in the books, the real deal begins for the Flyers with the start of training camp on Friday. The team will next be on the ice in game action for the preseason opener, a pair of split-squad games against the Devils and Islanders. Both games will begin at 7 p.m.
