As of Saturday afternoon, the NHL froze all transactions among the 30 existing NHL teams both internally and with each other so that the Vegas Golden Knights could begin the Expansion Draft process. By 5 p.m. on Saturday, teams had to officially submit their lists of protected players from being selected by Vegas.
The Flyers 11 protected players are as follows.
Forwards Claude Giroux, Valtteri Filppula, Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier and Scott Laughton have been protected. Defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere, Radko Gudas and Brandon Manning have also been protected. Lastly, the Flyers protected goaltender Anthony Stolarz.

GM Ron Hextall had said on Friday that the team was going to use the option to protect seven forwards and three defensemen. Teams could also protect any combination of eight skaters.
Due to their total NHL experience, players such as Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov, as well as prospects such as Travis Sanheim, Oskar Lindblom, Sam Morin and Robert Hagg are exempt from being selected in the Expansion Draft.

This leaves forwards Matt Read, Michael Raffl, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Dale Weise available for Vegas. Defenseman Andrew MacDonald and goalie Michal Neuvirth are also available.
Vegas will be selecting one player from each team, so the Flyers will only lose one player through the Expansion Draft. Vegas' roster will need to be submitted by 10 a.m. on Wednesday and will be announced during the NHL Awards on Wednesday night.
