One of the Flyers top prospect defensemen is poised to make his NHL debut on Tuesday.
The Flyers have called up defenseman Sam Morin from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms ahead of Tuesday night's game against the New Jersey Devils, GM Ron Hextall announced.
Morin has three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 68 games for the Phantoms this season. Not known for his scoring, Morin has been more of a stay-at-home defenseman with a rugged exterior. Morin is also 6'7" and 227 pounds, so he brings a size advantage to the Flyers.
The lineup for Tuesday's game is not yet known, so it remains to be seen how Morin will slot in. Tuesday's lineup will not include newcomer Mike Vecchione, who is probable to debut in Saturday's game against Columbus.
The Flyers played Sunday night without Radko Gudas after an injury suffered in Saturday's physical affair with the Devils. Nick Schultz was back in the lineup in his place.
