The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled Forward Nick Cousins from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and assigned Forward Taylor Leier (pictured) to Lehigh Valley. It was announced just after midnight by Flyers' General Manager Ron Hextall.
Cousins, 22, a native of Belleville, Ont. was the Flyers' 3rd round (68 overall) draft pick in 2011. This season with the Phantoms, he leads the team in scoring, posting 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 15 appearances. Last season with the Philadelphia, Cousins recorded no points and was a plus 1 in 11 appearances.
Leier, 21, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was Philadelphia's 4th round (117th overall) draft pick in the 2012 NHL entry draft. Leier is coming off his first NHL call up, where he scored no points in six appearances for the Flyers. In 14 games this season for Lehigh Valley, Leier has 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points.
The Phantoms return to the PPL Center this weekend to face the Hershey Bears tonight and the Providence Bruins on Saturday. Both contest have a 7:05 faceoff.
