It was just over three weeks ago that the Flyers season came to an end in Game 6 of the first round against the Washington Capitals.
For those of you going through hockey withdrawal and not satisfied watching another team play in the conference finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, then here's some good news for you. The Flyers released the 2016-17 preseason schedule on Tuesday, providing your first opportunity to see the Orange and Black next season.
The Flyers will play eight preseason games prior to the start of the 2016-17 regular season. The schedule is listed below:
- Monday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m. at New Jersey Devils
- Monday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m. at New York Islanders
- Tuesday, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. vs. New York Islanders
- Wednesday, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. vs. New Jersey Devils
- Saturday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m. vs. Boston Bruins
- Monday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m. vs. New York Rangers
- Thursday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m. at New York Rangers
- Saturday, Oct. 8, 5 p.m. at Boston Bruins
The two games on Sept. 26 will be split-squad action for the Flyers, with both games taking place on the road. On Monday, it was announced that the Flyers would be hosting the Devils on Sept. 28 at PPL Center, the home of their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The new addition here is two games against the Boston Bruins, a team the Flyers have not seen in the preseason in recent years unlike usual preseason fixtures in the Rangers, Islanders and Devils.
The schedule also indicates the approximate start date of the NHL regular season, which will come likely between Oct. 9 and Oct. 11 for most teams.
