Earlier this week, the Flyers tendered qualifying offers to all seven of their restricted free agents. It appears one of those free agents has a deal.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers have re-signed Mike Vecchione to a two-year, one-way deal with a cap hit of $900,000.
Vecchione joined the Flyers late last season after signing out of Union College. The Hobey Baker Award finalist scored 29 goals and added 34 assists for 63 points in 38 games in his senior season with Union.
Vecchione also made his NHL debut in April, playing in two games for the Flyers. He was a minus-1 and did not record a point in that time.
The question for Vecchione is whether he will be a part of the NHL roster in October. While the Flyers certainly made it a point to get him into the lineup last season, the 24-year-old would need to win a roster spot in competition with players like Scott Laughton.
Still, the Flyers ran the risk of losing Vecchione if they could not reach a new deal, since his entry-level contract was only for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Now the Flyers have supposedly locked him up for the next two seasons.
