The Flyers spent the first round and almost all of Day 2 adding forwards to the fold. With their final pick of the 2017 NHL Draft, they finally selected a defenseman.
With the 196th overall pick, the Flyers selected Wyatt Kalynuk.
Kalynuk played for the Bloomington Thunder in the USHL last season, scoring six goals and adding 25 assists in 60 games. Kalynuk is committed to play for the University of Wisconsin next season. Kalynuk is also 20 years old.
The Flyers also officially completed the trade with Montreal, sending pick No. 199 to the Canadiens for a 2018 seventh-round pick.
We'll have scouting reports on all of the Flyers picks from Rounds 3-7 shortly and a wrapup of the draft later as well.
