The newest Flyer has arrived.
When the 18th overall pick arrived, the Flyers opted to trade down, swapping picks with the Winnipeg Jets in a deal that sent the 18th pick and a third-round pick at 79th overall to Winnipeg for the 22nd overall pick and a second-round pick, the 36th overall pick.
With the 22nd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, the Flyers selected German Rubtsov.
Rubtsov played the 2015-16 season with Russia MHL 98 in the Russian Jr. league, scoring 12 goals and adding 14 assists for 26 points.
This marks the first forward taken with the Flyers first pick of a draft since Scott Laughton in 2012. Flyerdelphia will have a full scouting report on later tonight.
