Welcome to Philadelphia, Nolan Patrick.
With the second overall pick at the 2017 NHL Draft, the Flyers selected Brandon Wheat Kings center Nolan Patrick. The Devils selected Nico Hischier with the first overall pick, allowing Patrick to fall to the Flyers.
Patrick had an injury-riddled season in 2016-17, but still scored 20 goals and added 26 assists for 46 points in 33 games. The season prior in 2015-16, Patrick had a stellar year with 41 goals and 61 assists for 102 points in 72 games
In 160 career games with the Wheat Kings, Patrick has scored 91 goals and added 113 assists for 204 points, averaging 1.27 points per game in the WHL.
Patrick was widely regarded as the top prospect in the draft dating back to the end of the 2016 NHL Draft. But the time he missed this season did slightly hurt his stock with the rise of Hischier.
Patrick is the second player selected by the Flyers at second overall, joining James van Riemsdyk in 2007. We’ll have a full scouting report on Nolan Patrick shortly.
