It's getting down to the nitty gritty for the players remaining in contention for the Flyers roster. Three more players will officially make the move to the AHL on Wednesday.

The Flyers announced that forward Taylor Leier and defenseman Sam Morin have been assigned to the Phantoms and at noon, forward Colin McDonald will clear waivers and report to the Phantoms as well. McDonald was placed on waivers on Tuesday.

This leaves the Flyers roster at 26. It needs to be down to 23 by Oct. 11, the day before the NHL season begins. Two players still remaining in camp are defenseman Ivan Provorov and forward Travis Konecny.

Both Morin and Leier serve as strong candidates to be mid-season callups if needed. Morin had a strong camp and showed a lot of improvement, but a costly turnover that led to a goal on Monday showed that he may not be completely ready to make the jump to the NHL.

Leier debuted last season for a brief stretch and while he didn't set himself apart in camp, he has all the makings of a solid bottom-six player and could easily be of service to the Flyers if injuries start to pile up.

The Flyers have two remaining preseason games, Thursday night against the New York Rangers and Saturday evening against the Boston Bruins, both on the road.
