Ron Hextall addressed the media following the trade deadline that saw the Flyers move two players, acquired a defenseman in a depth move and add three picks to their total for this year's draft.

He closed his press conference by announcing that the Flyers had signed Pierre-Edouard Bellemare to a two-year extension. Bellemare will make $700,000 next season and $725,000 in 2016-17.

Bellemare is a 29-year-old rookie from France who made his debut at the start of this season. In 62 games, he has four goals and four assists for eight points.

Bellemare's contributions go far beyond his point total. Along with Chris VandeVelde, Bellemare has been a key fourth-line player for the Flyers and a huge asset to the recently-successful penalty kill.

Prior to joining the Flyers, Bellemare was a Swedish league veteran, scoring 45 goals and picking up 93 points in 136 games over the last three seasons.
