The final free agent for the Flyers has been signed.
Just one day after the Flyers signed Brayden Schenn to a four-year deal, narrowly avoiding arbitration, they avoided arbitration with their last remaining restricted free agent a week in advance.
Defenseman Brandon Manning has signed a two-year deal with the Flyers. The deal is worth $1.95 million with a cap hit of $975,000.
Manning was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing next Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Manning played in 56 games in the 2015-16 season, scoring one goal and adding six assists for seven points. Manning proved to be more effective in his own zone a shot blocker, with 57 blocked shots and 94 hits.
Last season was Manning's first season of extended time at the NHL level. In his first three years in the NHL, Manning had played a total of 21 games.
With Manning's new deal, the Flyers have an estimated $1.03 million of cap space remaining, according to General Fanager. There are 23 players currently on the roster.
