The Flyers kept some depth in the system on the blue line, signing defenseman Reece Willcox to a two-year, two-way deal on Thursday.
Willcox, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Flyers, just completed his third professional season with the organization. In 57 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this season, Willcox scored three goals and had 15 points.
Willcox played for four years at Cornell prior to going pro, and was the team's captain in his senior season in 2015-16. He joined the Phantoms for six games that season, scoring one goal and adding two assists. In his first full professional season, Willcox scored three goals and had seven points in 48 games with the Phantoms.
The deal is a two-way deal, meaning Willcox remains in the plans as a defenseman with the Phantoms. Terms of the deal have not been released.
The Flyers have five remaining restricted free agents left to sign. Robert Hagg, Taylor Leier, Anthony Stolarz, Danick Martel and Tyrell Goulbourne all remain unsigned. Leier has filed for arbitration, being the only remaining unsigned RFA eligible to do so.
