One local hockey player is coming home.
The Flyers have signed defenseman T.J. Brennan to a multi-year deal, according to GM Ron Hextall. Brennan is a native of Willingboro, NJ and was a 2007 second-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres. Brennan played the previous season as part of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. The deal is a two-year, two-way deal.
Brennan, 27, scored 25 goals and added 43 assists for 68 points in 69 games with the Toronto Marlies at the AHL level, leading the AHL in scoring among defensemen. He was also named the Eddie Shore Award winner as the AHL's outstanding defenseman in 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Brennan also played in seven games for the Maple Leafs last season, scoring one goal. In his career, he has 53 NHL games and has scored five goals and eight assists.
In 443 regular-season games in the AHL, Brennan has scored 113 goals and added 206 assists for 319 points.
