Flyers Sign D Yegor Zamula to Entry-Level Contract

With roster cuts looming, the end of the road was nearing for Yegor Zamula, the last remaining amateur tryout on the Flyers training camp roster. But it seems that a strong rookie camp and performance in the first few preseason games has earned the prospect a spot within the organization.

The Flyers signed Zamula to an entry-level deal on Thursday, GM Ron Hextall announced. Zamula was assigned to his junior team, the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.

Zamula, a 6’3”, 160-pound defenseman from Russia went undrafted in the 2018 NHL Draft. He was an invite to Flyers rookie camp, played in the Rookie Game, joined the team in training camp and played in two preseason games, logging 18:35 of ice time in Monday’s 3-1 win over the Islanders.

He played 38 games with the Regina Pats in his first junior season in 2017-18 before joining the Hitmen for the final 31 games, scoring two goals and adding nine assists.

More cuts are expected on Thursday afternoon.
