The first hour of free agency were a frenzy for some teams as the money went flying.
The Flyers were quiet for those 30 minutes, but have made their first signing of the free-agent period, adding forward Dale Weise on a four-year deal. The deal is worth $9.4 million, an average annual value of $2.35 million.
Weise scored 14 goals and added 13 assists for 27 points in 71 games between Montreal and Chicago.
Weise is primarily a bottom-six forward who will fill a similar role to Ryan White. White was an unrestricted free agent this season, and while he had expressed desire to come back to Philadelphia, even at a low cost, negotiations were still ongoing as the free agency period opened.
The deal for Weise is roughly market value. Similar to White, Weise made $1.025 million last season and was due for a raise.
In 329 career games, Weise has 37 goals and 49 assists for 86 points.
