With the 2018-19 season nearly in the books, the offseason is right around the corner for the Flyers. Before the book closes on the current season, they did manage to address one of their pending free-agent contracts.

The Flyers have signed forward Michael Raffl to a two-year extension, GM Chuck Fletcher announced on Tuesday afternoon. The deal is worth $3.2 million with an average annual value of $1.6 million.

Raffl has spent the last six seasons with the Flyers, appearing in 406 career games. He has scored 70 goals and added 62 assists for 132 points in his career, including six goals and 12 assists for 18 points this season. In the 2014-15 season, Raffl scored a career-high 21 goals.

Raffl originally signed with the Flyers as a free agency prior to the 2013-14 season.

“We’re happy to have Michael for the next two years,” Fletcher said in a statement. “Throughout his six seasons with the Flyers, he has played a pivotal role in a variety of positions and situations. His versatility, experience and work ethic will be valuable assets to our team going forward.”

“I’m very happy,” Raffl said in a statement. “We’ve been working on this for a little bit now. I really like it here. This is the place I want to be and this has been my home, so I’m very excited about the next two years.”

The 30-year-old Austrian forward figures to be a key depth player for the Flyers in the next two years. He should be a fit on the fourth line next season.
