The Flyers first-round pick from the 2016 Draft made the transition from Russia to the QMJHL earlier this year and has taken off with it. It was only a matter of time before the Flyers took the next step to German Rubtsov's future with the Orange and Black.
Rubtsov signed an entry-level contract with the Flyers on Thursday, GM Ron Hextall announced.
Rubtsov has played in 14 games since joining the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the QMJHL. He has eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in that time.
The 18-year-old also appeared for Russia in the World Junior Championships, appearing in five games and receiving a bronze medal. He was held scoreless, but was one of just four 18-year-olds playing for Russia, making playing time scarce.
Before making the move to the QMJHL, Rubtsov split time between the Russian Junior League and the KHL. He was scoreless in 15 KHL games, but posted eight goals and seven assists in 15 games in Russian Juniors.
