The Flyers first move of the offseason came in the form of a highly-touted prospect.
Oskar Lindblom, the Flyers fifth-round pick in 2014, signed an entry-level deal on Tuesday, according to GM Ron Hextall.
Lindblom had a tremendous season in the SHL, scoring 22 goals and adding 25 assists for 47 points in 52 games with Brynas IF. He also added four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 20 playoff games, helping Brynas reach the SHL Finals.
Selected with the 138th overall pick, Lindblom emerged during the 2016 World Junior Championships, scoring three goals and adding three assists in seven games. But it was this past season where Lindblom really took the SHL by storm, being among the leaders in scoring despite being just 20 years old in Sweden's professional league.
Lindblom had also briefly played for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2016, joining on an amateur try-out for eight games. He had two goals and five assists in that time.
As the SHL season started to draw closer to an end, Lindblom had expressed interest in making the transition to the North American game and pursuing an NHL career. This is the formal step to that pursuit. Expectations are that Lindblom should be in contention for a roster spot for the Flyers come training camp in September.
